Should be fixed now. steam-runtime
was replaced by just steam
however steam-native
was moved to a separate package steam-native-runtime
.

With the latest Steam update this is broken because steam-runtime
and steam-native
were replaced a single steam
script

@patlefort: Yeah, when I launch steam normally, that file does appear to get updated. I found this out because moondeckbuddy needs to hook into steam and couldn't find the pid

@HatsuneCthulhu: I can't reproduce, that file does get updated for me. When you launch without the fix, does it get updated? Is it only with the fix?
HatsuneCthulhu commented on 2024-06-16 08:40 (UTC)
For some reason, this causes the SteamPID entry in ~/.steam/registry.vdf to not get updated. This causes issues with many applications that need to hook into steam

My bad, idk it required to launch a different instance, will see if that stop the spamming of the following on systemd's journalctl : Activating service name='org.gnome.ScreenSaver' requested by ':1.44' (uid=1000 pid=2064 comm="/home/myusername/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam -si") Successfully activated service 'org.gnome.ScreenSaver'"
Edit : Now my log are clean from the spam of steam, it did indeed fix the issue and would make diagnosing my sleeping issue more easier nowadays, thank.

How to use: Launch steam-screensaver-fix-native
or steam-screensaver-fix-runtime
or use one of the 2 provided desktop files, which should have (Screensaver fix)
in its name. Don't forget to update your autostart file if you start steam on login. Don't use Steam's "Run Steam when my computer starts" option.

Can you tell me what message is being spammed?
HerbalNekoTea commented on 2023-12-24 19:14 (UTC)
I am unsure if the patch had applied, it's still spamming my journal log massively and it's really annoying when i am trying to diagnose unknown issue since i have been using awesomewm instead of gnome.
